At The Habitat Company, we believe that transformative development begins with partnership—and we’re proud that our work at Ogden Commons continues to serve as a model for impactful, community-forward progress.

Lawndale News recently featured a Q&A with Chris Nash, Senior Vice President of Community Development Banking at Bank of America, highlighting how the bank’s investments are supporting affordable housing and economic opportunity in underserved communities. Among the initiatives spotlighted: Ogden Commons, a $200 million mixed-use, mixed-income redevelopment project located in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood.

Developed in partnership with Bank of America, Sinai Health System, Cinespace Studios, and the Chicago Housing Authority, Ogden Commons is one of the largest mixed-income projects on Chicago’s West Side in over a decade. The project includes affordable and market-rate housing, a new retail corridor, healthcare facilities, and job-creating commercial spaces—all anchored by long-term public-private collaboration.

As Nash shares in the interview, “The impact of these developments goes far beyond bricks and mortar. These are projects that build wealth, provide opportunity, and strengthen neighborhoods.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Habitat is honored to work alongside mission-aligned partners like Bank of America, who understand that equitable development is essential to building a more inclusive Chicago. Ogden Commons is a testament to what’s possible when community, capital, and shared vision come together.

Stay tuned as we continue advancing future phases of Ogden Commons—including 75 new mixed-income residences and 120,000 square feet of commercial space—reaffirming our commitment to housing and opportunity for all.
