The Habitat Company is proud to unveil an exciting new proposal to transform the long-vacant Solo Cup manufacturing site in Highland Park into a vibrant residential community of 240 for-sale townhomes.
As reported by The Record North Shore and The Real Deal, our proposed development seeks to breathe new life into the 19-acre site located at 1700 Old Deerfield Road, which has remained unused since the Solo Cup facility closed over a decade ago.
The plan includes a mix of three- and four-bedroom townhomes designed to serve families and individuals seeking a high-quality, attainable housing option in one of Chicagoland’s most desirable suburbs. The homes will be thoughtfully integrated with walking paths, open green space, and sustainable design elements—helping to establish a connected and walkable community just steps from downtown Highland Park and the Metra line.
Habitat has submitted a Planned Development application to the City of Highland Park and is currently engaged in a collaborative review process with local officials and residents. The plan was shaped with input from neighbors and city planners alike, reflecting a shared vision for reimagining the property as a vital neighborhood asset.
“We see this as a unique opportunity to deliver much-needed housing while honoring the character and history of Highland Park,” said Habitat President Matt Fiascone. “We’re excited to work with the city and the community to bring this transformative project to life.”
The proposed townhomes will offer homeownership opportunities at a range of price points, creating a diverse, inclusive neighborhood that complements the city’s long-term goals for sustainable growth and thoughtful redevelopment.
Stay tuned as this exciting project moves through the city’s planning process.
