Anna Lu

As Controller for The Habitat Company, Anna Lu supervises the development of the accounting team and manages the workflow for all financial reporting for a portfolio consisting of market rate, public housing, condominium, affordable, student housing and commercial properties. She also is responsible for the oversight of accounting policies and procedures, internal controls and data management, along with her responsibilities for training team members in budget and financial reporting.

Anna Lu possesses over 28 years of professional work experience in real estate accounting, which includes 25 years with The Habitat Company. She is well-versed in the accounting demands needed for property management and is a well-organized professional with extensive experience in GAAP, financial analysis and reporting, budget preparation, planning and scheduling, new development and acquisitions, taxation, and cash management.

Prior to joining Habitat, Anna was a senior accountant for Realty Systems, Inc., a division of Equity Residential, where she was responsible for the preparation of financial statements for a portfolio of 50 properties as well as maintaining and monitoring a mortgage/loan portfolio with over 400 loans financed through the company.

Anna graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting with magna cum laude honors.
