Habitat Affordable Development
Through our decades of experience, we’ve forged partnerships with government agencies and neighborhood stakeholders alike. They understand our commitment to the residents we serve, our desire to build stronger communities and the sincerity of our mission: housing for all.
Building The Future
Our Chairman, Daniel Levin, founded The Habitat Company in 1971 to fulfill his vision for South Commons, an ambitious 28-acre urban renewal project on Chicago’s South Side. For the past 50 years, Habitat has been developing and managing affordable housing. Our community-oriented approach to design, development, and management has made us an industry leader. We have developed properties that were financed through a broad range of conventional and public financing programs, including tax-exempt bonds, low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC), HOME, CDBG and project-based section 8. Our proven track record and ability to successfully navigate complex financing structures make us uniquely qualified to lead affordable housing development projects.
